Cois Fharraige 2009 kicks off today in Kilkee on Ireland’s west coast with a stellar line up playing across the weekend. Doves , The Zutons, Newton Faulkner, Noah and the Whale, The Hold Steady, Stereo MCs, The Lightning Seeds and Hallo I Love You will join some of Irelands top and up and coming musical talents like The Saw Doctors, The Blizzards, Laura Izibor, Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club Joe Echo and Jazz Lite. Gates open at 5pm today. Kilkee beach will also provide a host of beach based activities for fans this weekend.
The last two years the festival has drawn some of the top surfers from Ireland and abroad to the West Coast and this year will be no exception. On Saturday and Sunday Nevsail Watersports will be on hand with Surfboards, Kayaks, Windsurfers and Wetsuits and are also offering Cois Fharraige patrons special offers for the weekend. 3 time Irish Kitesurfing Champion Ryan Coote will also be on the beach in Kilkee teaching people how to fly kites and to master the art of Kite-surfing. He will be giving lessons and kite-surfing demonstrations from 1pm to 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Three day weekend tickets are on sale now priced €99 inclusive of booking fee.
